Analagous to the FPA’s Spartanian Fighters, Valkyries were small attack craft designed to intercept enemy warships and destroy them. Small, fast and highly mobile, these fighters were armed with powerful particle weapons that could cut through the armor of enemy warships with relative ease. Integral to fleet tactics, these fighters were so small that they frequently required refueling mid-battle, though luckily they were so lightly armored that they never required mid-battle repairs (for that the hits never actually managed to do anything and just went straight through).
